KIRPC has contacted some 22 homeowners that showed a interest in the grant listed below. Those homeowners who qualify for the grant will have their income verified and application filled out. A licensed home inspector will inspect those homes and determine what the highest need for the home is. Revised information: the grant application is now due in January of 2010. Fourteen homeowners qualified and have had home inspections. The Town of Remington will await word on the grant sometime in the spring. Local home inspector, Dan Bowman, is doing the inspections of these homes.
Remington Homeowner Grant Opportunity
Remington homeowners have a great opportunity to apply for financial help with home repairs. Listed below are the guidelines for the housing rehabilitation grant. In order to qualify for the housing grant, please sign up at the town hall, and a representative from KIRPC will contact you to verify income and tell you more about the grant. Please spread the word, and tell those that might need some financial assistance for repairs.
The housing rehabilitation grant has some simple guidelines. You must own the home, not be a renter. You must fit below the income guidelines listed below, and you must live inside the town limits. A licensed home inspector will be assigned to inspect your home to see the home's greatest needs. If the town is awarded the grant, a homeowner may receive up to $15,000 for home repairs which could include roofing, siding, windows, doors, painting, electrical and plumbing work. The homeowner incurs no expense; the Town of Remington incurs the cost of up to 10% match of $250,000 as well as the costs of the individual home inspections.
Remington Homeowner Grant Opportunity
The Town of Remington plans to apply to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to improve Remington with the rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes within the incorporated town limits of Remington. The grant funds benefit selected homeowners by providing various repairs including, but not limited to roofs, bathrooms, plumbing, window, doors, electrical, and painting. All homeowners must qualify based on income requirements. All applicants must own and occupy the home and meet income requirements.
The Town of Remington encourages all interested citizens to sign-up at the Town Hall by July 6, 2009 to be considered for the program. All interested households will be contacted to discuss the requirements of the program and to complete a preliminary application form. The Town's program will target households with low-to-moderate incomes.
