There has been a lot of activity on the corner of 231 & 24 in Remington the last few months. A number of different types of businesses have resided on that corner over the years. There has been a body shop, a mechanic shop, and a water conditioning business. The building that was once there and added on to several times, has been demolished. The Bank of Wolcott recently purchased the property and will be building a new branch.
The Bank of Wolcott held its ground breaking ceremony on site. Several members of the board of directors, associates from the bank, town council members, Titan Construction, members from the RWCDC and the Remington Main Street were there. The newest member of the Bank of Wolcott is long time Remington resident Betty Vaughn. Betty will be managing this branch and we are excited that we have someone from our hometown in this position.
The new bank will be going up quickly. Titan Construction from Rensselaer is the contractor hired for the construction of the bank. They are looking to have an open house sometime in October. This is a positive thing for our community. New business and growth is what we need to keep our local economy strong. We welcome the Bank of Wolcott to Remington!
