On Monday July 26th, 2010 the Remington Carpenter Township Fire Station took one step closer to building their new facility. Several key people were involved in the ground breaking ceremony. Susie Sigo & Pat Berger from the town council. Gloria Hawkes, Sam Lehe, & Gerald Sondgerath from the township board. From the fire department there were Brad Idlewine, Mike Martin, & Braden Clark. Curt Albertson from the Hamstra Group was there. State Representative Doug Gutwein & Jasper County Commissioner Kendall Culp was there. Also attending were Edwin Buswell, Nathan Origer, Randy Mitchell & Kimberly Baker from K-IRPC. Aaron Kilgus from D&K Electric was there as well. The Remington Main Street was represented by Rochelle Ward.
This is a pivotal moment that embarks the beginning of many new things to come. The Town of Remington is very excited to see this new facility take place. It's now time to start bringing in the heavy equipment and start really moving a lot of dirt.
The Town of Remington was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs. This Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) was funded under the Disaster Recovery Fund, Appropriation 2. This follows a lengthy grant application process which included an income survey, archaeological study, environmental review, and public hearings.
