POSITION:  Executive Director-Remington Wolcott Community Development Corporation


Reports to:

Reports to and works with the RWCDC Executive Committee.



Directors of community development organizations help communities to bring about changes that will improve the quality of life in their local area. They collaborate with individuals, elected officials, local leadership and pertinent outside non-governmental and governmental agencies in order to:

         identify local assets, needs, opportunities, and challenges;

         plan local goals and appropriate action;

         develop activities and services to generate community growth and quality of life.





         identifying community skills, assets, issues and needs;

         developing new resources in dialogue with the community and evaluating existing programs;

         building and maintaining relationships with other groups and agencies;

         helping to raise public awareness on issues relevant to the community;

         preparing reports and policies;

         raising funds;

         developing and implementing strategies to accomplish program goals;

         liaising with interested groups and individuals to set up new services;

         mediating in matters of conflict;

         recruiting volunteer pool;

         planning, attending and coordinating meetings and events;

         marketing and public relations activities

         general administrative duties









  • Academic training and/or professional experience relevant to position responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and skill with computer technology in preparing and making reports, presentations, data analysis and retrieval, email and internet applications.
  • Knowledge of utilizing social media to market and disseminate information pertaining to the RWCDC and its programs and activities.
  • Ability to work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, teamwork and group process skills.
  • Flexibility and creativity in the workplace.


Additional Information:

         This is a 20 hour per week position.  Some evenings are required for meetings and special events.
